New Scuptures

I painted with oils since I got my first set from my grandmother Margot Schueffner when I was about 7 years old. In my early twenties I set out to be a ceramic and jewelry artist. Ow wel that was then... At some point printmaking took over and acrylic painting was a natural progression after realizing that chemical sensitivity was irreversible. Now I found my way back to sculpture.
Over the last two years I dabbled with modeling clay, wax, molds and bronze. Now I feel comfortable enough to show you what I came up with.

Painting Marathon

After three weeks of inspiration and sensory overload in Saigon I am back at work.
I painted in a frenzy and with renewed energy.
The emerging pieces are is for my new show in Galleri Elise Toft in Kolding.

When I am going through these moods I am a hermit and I am unable to be in contact with anyone. Now I am glad and relaxed as the task is accomplished and I feel more chatty now.

"Portals and gates and the passages of transition"

Keep you pasted on the progress I am in a rush February has only 29 days....oops!!

Back in my Copenhagen Gallerie

It always takes a while to get over the jet lac. If I am not careful I paint all night and will never get in the right routine. In respect with our travel plans to vietnam it might not make much sense either to be on Danish time.
As I am having a show in Kolding in April I got to get to work and create.  I have ordered canvases and I believe this time around I will work on a theme similar to the one that was totally sold out last year. "Portals and gates and the passages of transition"

Aspen Glory

As I do not have a studio right now I am collecting imagery. I have not one this intentionally in a while. Actually it has been refreshing to look anew.  Maybe this is a way to merge old observation power with new insights.  It is like seeing the works in a new light. Or have I changed and can suddenly see what was there before but slipped away unnoticed due to the lack of my own observational limitations.

I saw my aspens in a new light! In the past Aspen trees or groves have been my love, as an organism and as a painting subject. Many of the paintings sold were not cataloged however there are samples of my progression along the way. The question arises: As I painted the elegant trees that way then, was it really what I perceived they looked like?   I would not paint them this way now. Am I influence by the zeitgeist of trees becoming trendy? As soon as somethings becomes fashionable I tend to loose interest. But wait....I had painted trees all my life there must be more!!!

In the last years I have painted approx. 500 paintings of trees, most them aspen. Let's see how the next 500 will develop with my new observational insights!!!!!

As I am going to be traveling to Copenhagen this week and then to vietnam I won't have time to paint but I will sharpen my senses, to become a better artist.
